In Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Brian talked about Mary and Elizabeth and how they strengthened each other for the work of following Jesus.

Here are some reflection questions to help you think about how God uses us to strengthen each other in the life of faith: 

1. Think about a time when someone’s encouragement made a significant difference in your life. What was the situation, and how did their support impact you? 

2. Reread Luke 1:26-38. How would you describe Mary’s response to the angel’s message? 

3. What does Mary’s song (Luke 1:46-55) reveal about her understanding of God’s work through her? 

4. Mary is sometimes described as the first disciple of Jesus. What qualities does she demonstrate that we might emulate in our own discipleship? What does Mary teach us about saying “yes” to God? 

5. In the sermon on Sunday, Pastor Brian said that “true greatness is not possible without a community of support.” How have you experienced this in your own life? 

Here are some questions that might help you think of “next steps” you might take to put Sunday’s sermon into action in your life this week: 

1. This week, how can you be an “Elizabeth” to someone in your life who needs encouragement? 

What specific steps can you take to better recognize and affirm God’s work in the lives of others around you?
