Scripture: 1 John 3:1-7; Luke 24:36-48
We are God’s children – that is one of the essential claims of the Christian story. Because Jesus, the Son of God, has died for us, we have been adopted into God’s own family – we are brothers and sisters of Jesus, and children of God the Father. To the author of 1 John, being God’s children means that we are expected to live a certain way – to walk as children of the light rather than as children of darkness.
