Scripture: Acts 5:27-32; John 20:19-31
Christian faith begins with the resurrection of Jesus – it is the center of history and the event that changes everything. Confirmation is a journey that invites us to claim faith in that Good News (that Jesus is the Risen Lord) for ourselves – as Thomas must claim the faith for himself in this Sunday’s Gospel lesson. It is also a process of discovering that we are part of a community that carries us in faith – just as Thomas is part of the early church, and welcomed and loved by the disciples even before he believes – so, too, our faith journey happens as part of a community – a community of faith that sustains us and helps us connect with God. Even when our own personal faith feels insufficient, the faith of our community sustains us, beyond our own personal capabilities.
