Scripture: 2 Samuel 7:1-14a; Mark 6:30-34, 53-56

Often, we act as if God needs something from us – as if our actions somehow add something to God’s work, or as if God is waiting for us to be good or do good before God will save us.  In today’s story, David plans to do a favor for God, and God reminds David that God doesn’t need David’s help – and that, in fact, God is the one who will care for David, instead of David being the one who takes care of God.
