Opening Song: Light of the World (YouTube: We the Kingdom)
Bible Chapter Reading: Luke 4
Excerpt: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…”
Reflection: Jesus begins his ministry announcing good news to the poor and freedom for the oppressed. Hope looks like justice. Hope looks like restoration.
Journal prompt: This time of year, there are a lot of opportunities to give back to charities and care for your community. Many times we can be overwhelmed and end up doing too much or doing nothing. Write about your experience volunteering. Does it bring you joy? Is there more you want to get involved with? Journal about one mission that is close to your heart-why do you care about this initiative? Where is one place you can dedicate time to serve? Where is God shaping your heart towards justice and mercy?
Spiritual practice: Pray for the Oppressed
Lift up one person or group who needs good news today. Research an issue you care about.
Spend time in service or donate resources to a cause you care about.
