“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…” – Isaiah 9:6
To me, Christmas is all about love and celebration. It is family and friends gathering around the piano as my mother plays carols, singing along and making a joyful noise with tambourine, triangle, or pair of spoons on your knee. It is the delicious scents of hot cider and cloves, nutmeg and gravy, a baking ham, and the melting wax from thick glimmering candles (before scented candles were a thing). It is eating and praising and ripping open presents and giving thanks to God for so LOVING the world that He gave His only Son, so that we can believe in Him and have eternal life. It is a birthday party, a season of praise; it is unconditional love.
This has been a rough year. So get excited, people— it’s time to celebrate! Time to love each other as God has loved us. Time to come together and lift our voices in joyful praise, whether behind a mask, in spirit, or over Zoom.
Grab your instrument of choice… ready? SING!
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!”
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
