Rev. Brian Johnson
Scripture: Micah 5:2-5; Luke 1:26-45; Luke 1:46-55
In today’s readings, Mary sings a song of praise to God. She knows that when Jesus shows up, it will change everything – because God has been born among us, nothing can ever be the same. So, as she waits with anticipation to give birth to her Lord, she sings a song of praise – a song that is also a song of revolution. In this song – and her vision that inspires it – she sees the powerful cast down from their thrones, injustice overthrown, sin defeated, and new life springing forth for her, her people, and the whole world. When Jesus shows up, everything is transformed, and a new world is possible. Are we willing to embrace the revolution that Jesus is bringing?
