Scripture: Zepheniah 3:14-20; Isaiah 12:2-6; Matthew 1:18-257-20

Today’s Old Testament passages are songs of praise to God.  These prophets expected a savior to come to set their people free.  In Jesus, God gives us that – and more.  In Jesus, God becomes one of us, and takes up residence in this world as our brother, a fellow member of the human race.  Isaiah and Zepheniah remind us that God’s presence is a gift of joy with the power to renew us in face of the world’s drudgery.
