Scripture: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Mark 8:31-38

Sometimes our expectations – about how the world should work, about how we should live, and about who God is – need to be interrupted, challenged, turned upside-down.  In today’s Gospel story, Peter has certain expectations about what kind of savior Jesus should be – but Jesus interrupts these expectations and reminds him that his plan for salvation isn’t glorious, but it is God’s way.
