Scripture: Genesis 6:9-22; 7:24; 8:14-19; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Luke 3:15-17, 21-22

Today’ we are going to look at a way of reading the Old Testament that’s called “typology” – something the church has done since the earliest days, something that the Bible does to itself (see 1 Peter 3 reference).  When we read the Old Testament typologically, we see these stories as somehow prefiguring Christ.  Today, we will read the story of Noah and see the ark as prefiguring the church – it is the body that receives us to save us from death – and we discover Jesus going down into the waters to liberate us from death and bring us into a future with hope.
