Scripture: 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19; Mark 6:14-29

David is not a perfect guy.  He’s done some awful things (and will do some awful things later in his life).  Even in this moment, his motives aren’t entirely pure – he’s bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem, at least in part, as a way to cement his power.  And yet, in the midst of all of that, something holy is happening, and he is celebrating in God’s presence.  What does it mean for us to experience God’s holiness (and find joy in it) even in the midst of complicated situations and less-than-perfect motivations?
