Series: Before and After: Seeing the Big Picture in Scripture

Scripture: Acts 7:54-8:4; Acts 9:1-20

The books of the Bible were written as just that – as books.  That means that we have to read them with all the tools we would use for reading a book – including looking at the larger literary context beyond the individual stories.  Over the next few weeks, we will be reading stories that are back-to-back (or at least close together) in the Bible, and seeing how reading them together helps us understand them better.  Today, we begin with two stories of unlikely followers of Jesus from the book of Acts.

This Week: When was the last time you read a book of the Bible from beginning to end (like you would a book)? Have you ever done that?  This week, pick a book of the Bible and read it from the beginning to the end.  Jonah and Ruth are great options, because they are amazing stories that you can read in about 15-20 minutes.
