Dear Haymarket Church Family,
Over the last forty days, we have journeyed through the Gospel of John, practicing the difficult but beautiful work of letting go.
We let go of our control, our ego, and our fear. We stood at the foot of the cross and heard Jesus declare, “It is finished.” We practiced surrendering our need to earn God’s love, only to find that God’s love had already claimed us.
But today, the story opens wide.
The stone is rolled away, the grave clothes are empty, and the “Living Water” we read about weeks ago is now a spring of eternal life bubbling up for all of us.
Easter is the ultimate reminder that when we surrender our lives into God’s hands, we don’t lose them—we find them. The “Grain of Wheat” that fell into the earth has produced a harvest of joy that the world cannot take away.
Today, we celebrate:
- From Grasping to Receiving… He is Risen!
- From Earning to Grace… He is Risen!
- From Fear to Peace… He is Risen!

A Final “Resurrection” Challenge:
As you go about your celebrations today, take one moment to look at your hands—the same hands you clenched in fists and opened in prayer throughout this series.
Raise them up and say a simple prayer of thanks:
“Lord, I have surrendered my life to You, and today I receive Your life in return. Alleluia! Amen.”
