Scripture: Jeremiah 31:31-34; John 12:20-33
In Jesus, God renews God’s commitment to us – promises to always be for us, and gives us the strength to respond in kind. In Jesus, God has done something new – a new covenant, as the prophet Jeremiah calls it. It is also a new vision of how the world works – that life comes through death, that a grain of wheat must die before it can spring forth in new life. The pattern of death and resurrection interrupts the way the world works, but it is also a promise that the worst thing is never the last thing – and that life is ready to spring forth from the most surprising places.
