Scripture: Mark 4:35-41; Luke 5 :1-11; Matthew 14:22-33

Much of Jesus’ ministry happened in Galilee – a backwater region, a place of tradespeople and fishermen.  Today we see Jesus living in relationship to the water – calming storms, calling fishermen to follow him, and walking on water.  Through these stories, we discover Jesus as one who is in touch with nature (and the simple things of life) AND as one who is Lord of creation – one who commands even the winds and the waves.   This story reminds us of a Jesus who is like us, and yet who is also fully God – in control of more than we can imagine.
