Scripture: Exodus 20:1-17; John 2:13-22

When Jesus walks into the temple in Jerusalem, he sees a lot of “business” being transacted – religious business, economic activity, social interaction, and more.  But Jesus isn’t happy about this – he sees “business as usual” for what it is: exploitative, exclusionary, and not the way of God.  God, in Jesus, has a nasty habit of challenging our assumptions, overturning our expectations, and putting a stop to our habitual patterns of exploitation and injustice.
