Scripture: 1 John 4:7-21; Matthew 22:36-40

John Wesley (founder of the Methodist movement) said that the central truth of the Bible is that God is Love – and that this truth must guide our interpretation of all other Scriptures.  Today we will talk about the nature of God’s love (as discussed in 1 John 4) and explore what this deep truth means for Christian living.  So for example: we love others because God first loved us, perfect love drives out fear, love sets us free to live and love boldly, and (to quote Les Mis), “to love another person is to see the face of God” (see 1 John 4:12).
