Monday, March 16, 7 PM: The United Methodist Church is holding a major global gathering (called “General Conference”) in May. This gathering has the potential to change the future direction of the church, particularly around issues of LGBTQIA+ inclusion, but also on a host of other important matters. The Virginia Conference of the UMC has elected a 64-person delegation to participate in General (and Jurisdictional) Conference in 2020. On March 16, we will have a panel of 5 members of that delegation here to speak with us and answer your questions about what might happen and what this gathering will mean for the future of the denomination (and for our local churches). NOTE: due to the expectation of increased attendance and the nature of this discussion, we are attempting to reserve a room upstairs at Giuseppe’s for this event. This means we likely won’t be in our “usual” location. Be on the lookout and ask for “Pub Theology” when you arrive.
Pub Theology is an opportunity to gather, have meaningful conversations, build relationships, and have a great time. We talk about important topics for faith and life while sharing good food and drink. All perspectives are welcome! We gather at Giuseppe’s in Haymarket (15120 Washington Street).
