Monday, November 26: 2 Samuel 11:1-27
Tuesday, November 27: 2 Samuel 12:1-25
Wednesday, November 28: Warning: Today’s reading includes a description of sexual violence within David’s family (by one of his sons against one of his daughters). It’s an essential part of David’s story, but we know that it can also be difficult for some of us to read (especially if we have experienced similar violence ourselves). If this topic is a trigger for you, we recommend that you skip today’s reading. 2 Samuel 13:1-39
Thursday, November 29: 2 Samuel 15:1-31
Friday, November 30: 2 Samuel 18:1-33

BONUS READING (for Saturday or Friday): 2 Samuel 23:1-7. This week we’ve read a lot of David’s failures as a king.  Today’s reading is meant to help us sum up the story of David.  He was a flawed human being, but he was also deeply loved by God.  He achieved great heights of beauty and goodness, but also profound depths of sin.  And yet, through it all, God was faithful to him, and, through him, God did good work in the world.  As we prepare for Advent, a season when we will get ready to celebrate the birth of the Son of David (Jesus Christ), may David’s story remind us that God works in even the most unexpected places!

Saturday, December 1: Review and reflect on Scriptures from the week. Sit quietly and ask God to show up.

Sunday, December 2: Show up to worship and experience Scripture and prayer together with your church.  If you can’t make it to worship, go to our Facebook page or to worship online (either live or later).

Prayer Focus This Week: Survivors of violence and abuse, particularly survivors of domestic violence.

Action: Find someplace beautiful and spend some time looking at it.  Give thanks to God for the beauty that fills this world, even if sometimes we don’t notice it.
