Take a moment to get to know our leaders here. When you see them at church or in our community, be sure to thank them for their service!
Our Pastor

Rev. Brian Johnson
Haymarket Church Pastor
✉ brian.johnson@haymarketchurch.org
Pastor Brian loves that, as a pastor, he gets to spend time with the awesome people of Haymarket Church and the Haymarket community. He also love that his job allows him to spend time reading, writing, and thinking about God.
Favorite Food: Tex Mex in all its forms. An ideal day for me is a day spent with friends at Zandra’s (in Haymarket) eating craft tacos and enjoying craft drinks.
Hobbies: Does eating Tex Mex count as a hobby? If not, I’ll list taking the dog for long walks while listening to podcasts, trying new recipes (I love to cook!), and reading.
First job you ever had: I worked for a temp agency during the summers in high school. My first temp gig was as a receptionist for a Hospice and homecare unit in a nursing/retirement facility in Alexandria, Virginia. I met a lot of awesome people – including my favorite, General Wellington, who was 95, still sharp as a tack, funny, kind, and amazing!

Our Staff

Pam MacKay
Administrative Assistant
✉ pam.mackay@haymarketchurch.org
Pam enjoys helping keep the records organized for Haymarket Church and loves that this effort is very much appreciated by the leaders and people of the church.
Favorite Food: enchiladas and beer at Hector’s followed by some delicious flan.
Hobbies: DDPYoga, gardening and, of course, anything crafty that exists.
First Job: at 18 started working for a Medical Practice as a filing clerk, then moved on to Front Desk, Insurance Billing Clerk, Insurance Billing Manager, and finally Billing Director (8 years). Worked there for 21 years, then retired when TJ was born.

Karen Thom
Kids Ministry Director
✉ karen.thom@haymarketchurch.org
When asked what her favorite part of the job is, Karen answered: “The kids! How could I say anything else? They are all so much fun.”
Favorite Food: Smoothies
Hobbies: Watching HGTV shows with her daughter and dreaming of all the things they would do with more time or energy.
First job: Doing layout and whatever else they needed for a hospitality magazine.

Kim Johnson
Youth Ministry Director
Communications Director
✉ youth@haymarketchurch.org
✉ communications@haymarketchurch.org
Kim loves her students and enjoys watching them grow from awkward 6th graders into incredible leaders and super cool humans. She’s been in youth ministry for more than 20 years and can’t imagine doing anything else with her Sunday nights.
Kim has recently taken on the role of Communications Director and is excited to continue to improve our communications and increase our reach.
Favorite Food: Spaghetti. And Slurpees. Are Slurpees a food? Pasta is her love language. And also tacos, because she’s married to Brian.
Hobbies: Soccer! And also outdoorsy things, writing snail-mail letters, and video games. She’s also currently learning to crochet tiny animals.
First Job: Does babysitting count? Aside from babysitting, she worked in a computer lab at VCU (her dad worked there) when she was 13 and computers were new and fancy–the college students wouldn’t ask her for help because she was ‘just a kid’ and then when they messed things up she’d fix them.

Josh Teboe
Worship Leader
✉ joshteboe@haymarketchurch.org
Josh’s favorite think about working at Haymarket church is the kindness of everyone both on staff and in the congregation.
Favorite food: Ramen
Hobbies: Music, Dungeons & Dragons, Naps
First Job: Sorter @ UPS after my first semester of college. I worked there for about seven months.
