2022 Annual Report
The 2022 Annual Report is part of our annual financial stewardship campaign. The goal of this report is to tell the story of how we’ve made use of the resources that have been given to Haymarket Church in order to fulfill our mission and be who God is calling us to be.
The final page of this report includes information about financial stewardship and an invitation to support God’s work at Haymarket Church by growing in financial giving. When you give to Haymarket Church, you help our church live into these 5 core values and join in God’s story of love.
Why We Give
Giving is a spiritual act. Through our financial support of the ministries of the church we put our faith into practice. Not only is this vital to enable and strengthen the many ministries of the church, but it is a spiritual exercise for each of us.
When we give, we prioritize, we make decisions, and in a very tangible way we make God and God’s work a priority in our lives.
The Biblical guideline is the tithe (Malachi 3: 8-10), giving 10% of our income to God’s work. Tithing is a journey – a process of spiritual growth.

The Power of Tithing
Tithing is the Christian practice of giving ten percent of our income to the work of God through the church. One Haymarket Church member who has discovered the transformational power of tithing in their life describes it this way: “Tithing is an intimate form of worship; giving 10% of ourselves (our financial worth) back to God; giving 10% of what we produce each week to the very thing that feeds our spirit and relationship with God. Tithing or growing towards tithing can be liberating; it is not just another obligation but an exercise of humility.” Tithing has the power to change our lives, teach us gratitude and generosity, and refocus our hearts on God.
Percentage Increase Challenge
The Christian practice of tithing has the power to transform our lives. We believe that we are doing good work and that giving at Haymarket Church makes a difference – and we believe that tithing is an important practice. We also understand that it can be hard to jump directly to tithing. Many of us want to give more money to support our church, but can’t figure out how to make that happen. So, if you’re not tithing but would like to move towards that goal, consider making a percentage increase – what if you were to make progress towards tithing by increasing your giving by a percentage point? So, if you currently give 1% of your income to church, what if you increased that to 2% for next year? That kind of incremental increase can usually be absorbed into your budget more easily than a big jump.
