Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:7-9; Matthew 8:1-17

This statement is usually offered in a very condescending, judgmental way. If someone would just get a job, just get off their butt, just follow the rules, then maybe the help they so desperately need would come their way. The problem is that all of us need help in some way, shape, or form. The help that we need is not something we can deliver to ourselves. We have to rely on the power of God in the Holy Spirit to be our help, to be our deliverance. When we have this kind of faith, and as we help others to have that faith too, God transforms us.
