Scripture: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9; James 1:16-27
Our last sermon series was a deep dive into the book of Galatians. Today we start a new sermon series focused on the book of James. Galatians is focused on the truth that there’s nothing we can do to make God love us – we don’t HAVE to do anything, and God showers us with love anyway. James is focused on the other side of the coin – all the things we GET to do because we have experienced the love of Jesus. Galatians tells us that faith is what saves us, not our works (what we do). James tells us that faith without works is dead. Today, we start our journey through James, as we read that true religion is defined by caring for orphans and widows.
