This Sunday (9/23) in worship we will begin our fall sermon series telling the story of the rise and fall of King David. Because David is so important to the story that’s told in the Bible, taking time to focus on his story will help us better understand what’s happening in the Bible – both in the Old Testament and in the story of Jesus. And, David’s life has a lot to teach us about how (and how not) to live our lives. This week’s readings provide some background – what was happening in Israel just before David began his rise to the throne.

Monday, September 17: 1 Samuel 1:1-20
Tuesday, September 18: 1 Samuel 2:1-10
Wednesday, September 19: 1 Samuel 3:1-9
Thursday, September 20: 1 Samuel 3:10-21
Friday, September 21: 1 Samuel 7:15-8:3

Saturday, September 22: Review and reflect on Scriptures from the week. Sit quietly and ask God to show up.

Prayer Focus This Week: Those who live in hunger in our community and around the world.  Pray especially for the people who will receive the food we packaged on Sunday during our Service Worship Service.

Action: Review this list you made last week of five people who might be looking for a church.  Pray for them.  As you pray, write down one thing that you love about each of those people. If you didn’t make that list last week, make it this week – writing down five people who you know who might be looking for or need a church.
